Find out what the ancient tradition of Buddhism and the Shambhala Buddhist path and meditation practice is about.

Open House occurs every Wednesday evening at 8 pm at the Shambhala Centre, and is open to all.

It includes a brief introductory discussion lead by a member of the Centre who has many years of experience practicing this personal journey. It is a chance to discuss what concerns you about spiritual teachings and the reality of everyday life.

Open House includes information about activities and events open to the public at the Shambhala Centre, and most importantly, how you can receive meditation instruction in this tradition if you wish to pursue this practice. The discussion concludes at 9 pm and is followed by refreshments and a chance to ask your questions on any of the issues raised that evening.

"Taking a spiritual path isn’t meant to be just a way to deal with hard times. Following a spiritual path is how we awaken to our unique and precious power as humans."
-Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche

"The attitude that one experiences from the Buddhist view and practice is that one actually experiences mind as fundamentally pure, healthy and positive."
-Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Regular Practice

PUBLIC SITTING & EVENING CHANTS

Wednesdays 7 pm

Sunday Nyinthün 9 am-12, 1:30-4:30pm

Our open practice consists of silent sitting, interspersed with brief periods of walking meditation, and in the evenings, concluding with chanting. First-time meditators are encouraged to attend our Open House on Wednesday evenings for meditation instruction.

Nyinthün is a form of group practice that lasts for a whole day, and includes periods of sitting and walking meditation as well as selected readings, opening and closing chants. Nyinthün is a means for drawing together sangha members of all levels of practice, providing an opportunity to strengthen and stabilize our meditation through more intensive practice.

SADHANA OF MAHAMUDRA

In this powerful hour-long practice, we chant a liturgy composed by the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, which connects us with the Kagyü and Nyingma lineages of enlightened vajrayana teachers. Conducted on the full and new moon of every month. Open to all. Look at the liturgical calendar for upcoming dates.

ADVANCED GROUP PRACTICE

Open to students who have met study and practice pre-requisites. For dates of upcoming Werma, Vajrayogini, Chakrasamvara, Padmasambhava, and Vajrakilaya feast practices, please look at the liturgical calendar.
