Price: $250 tuitionProgram Registration is Closed.

Please note that this is a Shambhala International program, where the local Halifax Shambhala Centre policy to "pay what you can afford" doesn't apply. Both profits and losses are carried forward, in order to make this training available throughout the whole mandala. Contact Frederic Villemure, practice-ed-1@shambhala.org or 902-420-1118 ext 131 if you need financial assistance.

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has requested that, throughout the Shambhala community this year, we emphasize meditation instruction as a focus of our work together. Specifically, he would like us to use this period of time to train and deepen in Shambhala Meditation by studying the text. Additionally, to prepare for the role of meditation instruction in a societal vision, he asks that we further develop skills of listening and inquiry. As he said, our role is “…not to teach the students something, but to help them discover something”.

The Meditation Instructors’ Gatherings will include study and contemplation of excerpts of the Shambhala Meditation text (available at the program), exploring the ways the qualities of gentleness, trust, and caring inform our entire approach to meditation (our own practice, as well as teaching meditation to others). Thus, meditation can be understood as an expression of appreciation for oneself, and the qualities of embodiment, relaxation, kindness and confidence can be communicated.

A requirement to the Meditation Instructor Gathering is having listened to the online Address to Meditation Instructors by the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche of March 10 2012, as well as the online Shambhala Meditation Training Part 1 (Dec. 9 2012) & Part 2 (Jan. 13 2013) with Acharya Dale Asrael. The links to those recordings are accessible here through Shambhala Online:

The program material assumes that all participants will have heard those teachings prior to the gathering.

This program is open exclusively to Meditation Instructors who are also graduates of Sacred World Assembly or its equivalent.
